The writers of International PEN, the largest worldwide organization of writers with branches in 103 countries, are very concerned about our Iranian Kurdish colleague the journalist Mohammad Sadiq Kabudvand, who was arrested on July 1 of this year. We seek information on the charges against him. We believe he has only been peacefully exercising his right to free expression.
We further seek assurance that he is being well-treated in detention. We have heard of many cases of problems of journalists and human rights activists in the Kurdish region of Iran and so we are becoming increasingly worried.
